RULES AND REGULATIONS

UNDERSTANDING THE RULES:
It is the responsibility of all participants to familiarize themselves with all the rules and regulations and agree to abide by said rules and regulations.  Participants also agree that all decisions of the Tournament Committee are final.
 
GENERAL RULES
All fish caught in a tournament and presented to the official weigh master at Strong's Marine in Mattituck by the pre-determined time of 5:30 P.M. will be weighed.  Winners will be determined by the largest fish in the eligible species by weight.
 
WHO CAN BE A CAPTAIN?
Members who register as captain or alternate-captain must be at least 18 years of age and must have had their eighteenth birthday prior to the fishing tournament.
 
 
 
 
CAPTAIN'S MEETING
Friday, at 7:00 P.M.-Strong's Marine, 2400 Camp Mineola Rd., Mattituck, New York.
 
ANGLER DIVISION
*     Prizes for largest fish in each of three (3) species:  Striped Bass, Fluke and Bluefish.
*     Grand Prize for greatest aggregate weight of one (1) fish in each species.
 
JUNIOR ANGLER DIVISION
*     Top Junior Angler will receive a gift and a plaque.
*     Junior Angler must be aboard boat, catch the fish and be present at weigh-in.
*     Junior Angler prizes are for juniors 14 years of age and younger.
*     Junior Angler must be listed on the release form prior to starting the tournament.
 
GENERAL TOURNAMENT RULES
1.     The tournament will be held rain or shine.  It is the sole responsibility of the captain of all entered boats to determine if weather and sea conditions are safe to fish.  Participants expressly and unconditionally agree as a condition to the acceptance of their application that the Peconic Bay Fishing Tournament, Inc., Lyme Disease Association and Strong's Marine and their administrators, officers, and agents are not liable for any claims, suits or obligations arising out of or resulting from participation in this event as a result of negligent or intentional conduct by the Peconic Bay Fishing Tournament, Inc., Lyme Disease Association and Strong's Marine or its sponsors.  Participant agrees to indemnify and hold the Peconic Bay Fishing Tournament, Inc., Lyme Disease Association and Strong's Marine harmless for all claims and costs, including reasonable attorney fees, arising out of his or her conduct resulting from participation in the tournament.  Specifically by entering the tournament you understand that in conjunction with engaging in the Peconic Bay Fishing Tournament. Inc., you could experience certain hazards and be involved in certain risks.  You further recognize that it would be impractical as well as unfair for the Peconic Bay Fishing Tournament, Inc., Lyme Disease Association and Strong's Marine, its officers, directors and committee members and/or any and all other persons or boat owners and their crew directly or indirectly involved in or connected with the Tournament to be liable or responsible in any way for my safety.  You hereby release, hold harmless and forever discharge the Tournament and its officers, directors, committee members, the boat owners and their crews from any liability and/or libel, slander, loss, damage, harm, injury or death suffered by me or which may occur during the Tournament.  You understand this includes any claims based upon any negligent act or omission.  You understand that you enter the Tournament at your own risk and hereby assume all risks, which may be involved in participating in the Tournament, particularly hazards due to weather conditions, and you fully understand that any time during your participation you may elect not to participate when you think weather or any other hazards are too great.  The captain and crew recognize that fishing is inherently dangerous.
 
2.     You, by entering this tournament do hereby agree to the terms and conditions of this General Release and agree to abide by the rules and regulations prescribed for competition in the Peconic Bay Fishing Tournament.
 
3.     Boats are limited to the legal capacity of each vessel, including captain and crew.
 
4.     Rod and Reel only, no restrictions on line test used.
 
5.     The weigh station closes at 5:30 PM on Saturday.  No fish will be eligible for a prize if the fish is not at the weigh station at that time.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
 
6.     Any Tournament Sponsor entering the tournament in compliance with the tournament rules is eligible for any and all prizes.
 
7.     All boats must have an operational VHF radio on board.  The tournament weigh station will be Channel 69.
 
8.     All anglers are responsible for getting their fish to the weigh station.
 
9.     Captains and their crews are responsible for following all local, state and federal fishing and boating laws.
 
10.   Participants in tournaments should scan channel 16 along with the tournament channel to keep abreast of any marine warnings issued by the U.S. Coast Guard.  Weather warnings should be heeded and captains should seek safe port.
 
11.   Payment of the entry fee into a tournament constitutes a representation by each entrant that he or she has read and understands the tournament rules and will abide by such rules and the decisions of the tournament's committees and personnel.
 
12.  This tournament is a captain's choice tournament; it is up to the participating captain to determine whether his or her craft is sea-worthy for existing sea conditions.  The tournament committee may cancel a fishing day if small craft warnings have been posted by the Coast Guard.  The captain is responsible for all members of his crew.  If the Tournament is postponed, the Tournament Committee will announce a time when all fish must be weighed in by.  You will have 1 1/2 hours from the time of the announcement to weigh your fish.  All fishing must cease at the time of announcement.  If the tournament cannot continue or is cancelled, the fish weighed in prior to the stoppage of the tournament will determine the winner. 
 
13.   If the tournament is cancelled, the weather alternate date will be June 18, 2011.
 
14.   Eligible fish species:  Striped Bass, Fluke, Bluefish.
 
15.   Captains' Meeting:  Friday Evening:  7 PM at Strong's Marine, Mattituck, New York.
 
16.   The junior division must catch and land their own fish to be eligible for their prizes.  Any person on the boat may not pick up the rod and strike the fish, then pass it on to another angler.
 
17.   Fishing Hours:  Boats may leave from any port.  Tournament officially begins at sunrise, Saturday, June 11, 2011.
 
18.   You can fish anywhere in the Peconic or Gardiner's Bay, including the Gut, the Rip and the Sluiceway.
 
19.   Additional rules and/or regulations shall be clarified at the captain's meeting.
 
20.   Awards presentation will be at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, June 11, 2011.
 
21.   Each Angler will only be entitled to be eligible for one first prize in the Tournament.
